South Haven Michigan Photography – Winter 2013 – It sure is amazing how the waves from Lake Michigan wash up onto the lighthouse at South Haven and create a icicle sculpted lighthouse. It looks so unreal! Unfortunately, I was maybe a couple days late for the best look but I still was able to capture a decent part of it.
I visited South Haven on Dec 28th 2013, with my girlfriend and Mr. Chastin Pawson. The weather was phenomenal, a whopping 45 degrees! But hey, after a steady few weeks in the low single digits and below zero, 45 feels great! 🙂
It was a blast to shoot this! So much fun capturing new scenery. As night fell we grabbed dinner at a local restaurant called “Clementine’s” which was definitely worth visiting again. After stuffing faces we ventured back to the lighthouse to capture some longer night exposures. Turned out the wind had picked up tremendously and I felt like we were going to blow off the pier. Luckily that wasn’t the case and we were able to get some shots with only minimal tripod shake. Haha, kidding 🙂
I enjoyed South Haven, it was so nice to get out of Illinois for a day and was a very close trip. I advise anyone considering the trip to dive right in! It’s a neat place, and there are lighthouses in every city along the famous Lake Michigan.
